Men and women who have lost a significant amount of weight may be left with loose and sagging excess skin, especially on the upper legs. Thigh lift surgery at our Kitchener-Waterloo clinic can restore a slimmer, firmer look to the thighs, and can alleviate irritation and rashes that sometimes come from redundant skin.
Who is a candidate for a thigh lift?
A thigh lift is an option for men and women who want to tighten excess loose skin after significant weight changes, or for individuals whose thighs sag despite exercise and a healthy diet. If you’re in good overall health and are at or near the weight you want to maintain, body contouring procedures such as a thigh lift are options you should discuss with a qualified plastic surgeon.
What are my options for thigh lift surgery?
A thigh lift is performed on the inner or outer thigh, or both. A custom surgical plan will be developed based on the surgeon’s physical examination and the patient’s cosmetic goals. An outer thigh lift may include contouring the buttocks area as well. In some cases, liposuction is combined with a thigh lift to enhance the results.
What should I expect after surgery?
Recovery following surgery depends partly on whether other procedures, such as an arm lift or a tummy tuck, were combined with the thigh lift. It’s important to get plenty of rest following body contouring surgery, but light walking is important to help the healing process. Bruising and swelling are normal after surgery and gradually diminish during the first 2 weeks post-op. Once that occurs, you’ll begin to see the results of the procedure, but it can be several months until swelling and scarring fade.
